The field of double perovskites is now advancing to three magnetic elements on the A, B and B' sites. A series of iridium-based double perovskite compounds, Ln₂ CoIrO₆ (Ln = Eu, Tb, Ho), with three magnetic elements was synthesized as polycrystalline samples. The compounds crystalize in monoclinic structures with the space group P2₁/n. Magnetic properties of these hetero-tri-spin 3 d-5 d-4 f systems were studied by magnetic susceptibility and field dependent magnetization in both DC and pulsed magnetic fields. Spin dynamics in pressure-induced magnetically ordered phases in $(C_{4} H_{12} N_{2}) {Cu}_{2} {Cl}_{6}$

In this paper, we present inelastic neutron-scattering experiments on the S=1/2 frustrated gapped quantum magnet piperazinium hexachlorodicuprate (PHCC) under applied hydrostatic pressure. These results show that at 9 kbar the magnetic triplet excitations in the system are gapless, contrary to what was previously reported. Our results are in agreement with recent muon-spin relaxation experiments which found magnetic order above a quantum-critical point at 4.3 kbar. Finally, we show that the changes in the excitation spectrum can be primarily attributed to the change in a single exchange pathway.

Uniaxial pressure effect on the magnetic ordered moment and transition temperatures in ${BaFe}_{2 - x} T_{x} {As}_{2}$ ( $T = Co, Ni$ )

In this paper, we use neutron diffraction and muon spin relaxation to study the effect of in-plane uniaxial pressure on the antiferromagnetic (AF) orthorhombic phase in BaFe₂As₂ and its Co- and Ni-substituted members near optimal superconductivity. In the low-temperature AF ordered state, uniaxial pressure necessary to detwin the orthorhombic crystals also increases the magnetic ordered moment, reaching an 11% increase under 40 MPa for BaFe_1.9Co_0.1As₂, and a 15% increase for BaFe_1.915Ni_0.085As₂. We also observe an increase of the AF ordering temperature (T_N) of about 0.25 K/MPa in all compounds, consistent with density functional theory calculations that reveal better Fermi surfacemore »« less
