Kondo insulators modeled by the one-dimensional Anderson lattice: A numerical-renormalization-group study

In order to better understand Kondo insulators, we have studied both the symmetric and asymmetric Anderson lattices at half filling in one dimension using the density-matrix formulation of the numerical renormalization group. The asymmetric case is treated in the mixed-valence regime. We have calculated the charge gap, the spin gap, and the quasiparticle gap as a function of the repulsive interaction {ital U} using open boundary conditions for lattices as large as 24 sites. Entanglement Area Law in Disordered Free Fermion Anderson Model in One, Two, and Three Dimensions

We calculate numerically the entanglement entropy of free fermion ground states in one-, two-, and three-dimensional Anderson models and find that it obeys the area law as long as the linear size of the subsystem is sufficiently larger than the mean free path. This result holds in the metallic phase of the three-dimensional Anderson model, where the mean free path is finite although the localization length is infinite. Relation between the present results and earlier ones on area law violation in special one-dimensional models that support metallic phases is discussed.

One-dimensional disordered bosonic Hubbard model: A density-matrix renormalization group study

We use the density-matrix renormalization group to study the one-dimensional bosonic Hubbard model, with and without disorder. We obtain the gaps in all phases, certain correlation functions, and the superfluid density. A finite-size-scaling analysis enables us to obtain an accurate phase diagram and the {beta} function at the superfluid{endash}Mott insulator transition and the Kosterlitz-Thouless essential singularity in the pure case. Large-cell renormalization-group approach to long-range hopping on energetically disordered lattices

We describe an approach for computing the conductivity associated with long-range hopping on energetically disordered lattices. Using a numerically exact supercell procedure we compute the distribution [rho][sub [ital L]]([gamma]) of block conductances [gamma][sub [ital L]] associated with conducting cubes of edge length [ital L] that are randomly chosen from the disordered system of interest. This distribution of block conductances is then used in a self-consistent numerical calculation to obtain the renormalized bulk conductivity. Renormalization group study of thermodynamics in large N 3D O(N) vector model

We show that a conformal fixed point appears in the three dimensional O(N) ({phi}-vector{sup 2}){sup 2} theory in large-N limit and it shares renormalization group properties with the Wilson-Fisher fixed point which arises in the context of the {epsilon} expansion. Thermodynamic free energy density is computed and its behavior is studied along renormalization group flow lines around the conformal fixed point. Specifically, the ultraviolet free energy is not less than the infrared one except for those along the flow line corresponding to nonlinear {sigma} model embedded in the ({phi}-vector{sup 2}){sup 2} theory.
