The superconducting RF linac for Linac Coherent Light Source-II calls for 1.3 GHz 9-cell cavities with an average intrinsic quality factor Q{sub 0} of 2.7 × 10{sup 10} at 2.0 K and 16 MV/m accelerating gradient. Two niobium 9 cell cavities, prepared with nitrogen-doping at Fermilab, were assembled into the Cornell Horizontal Test Cryomodule (HTC) to test cavity performance in a cryomodule that is very similar to a full LCLS-II cryomodule. Quench Studies of Six High Temperature Nitrogen Doped 9 Cell Cavities for Use in the LCLS-II Baseline Prototype Cryomodule at Jefferson Laboratory

Jefferson Lab (JLab) processed six nine-cell cavities as part of a small-scale production for LCLS-II cavity processing development utilizing the promising nitrogen-doping process. Various nitrogen-doping recipes have been scrutinized to optimize process parameters with the aim to guarantee an unloaded quality factor (Q_0) of 2.7∙10¹⁰ at an accelerating field (Eacc) of 16 MV/m at 2.0 K in the cryomodule. During the R&D phase the characteristic Q0 vs. Eacc performance curve of the cavities has been measured in JLab’s vertical test area at 2 K. The Linac Coherent Light Source II (LCLS-II) is a new state-of-the-art coherent X-ray source being constructed at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. It employs 280 superconducting radio frequency (SRF) cavities in order operate in continuous wave (CW) mode. To reduce the overall cryogenic cost of such a large accelerator, nitrogen-doping of the SRF cavities is being used. Nitrogen-doping has consistently been shown to increase the efficiency of SRF cavities operating in the 2.0 K regime and at medium fields (15–20 MV/m) in vertical cavity tests and horizontal cryomodule tests. Performance of Dressed Cavities for the Jefferson Laboratory LCLS-II Prototype Cryomodule - With Comparison to the Pre-Dressed Performance

Initial vertical RF test results and quench studies for six of the eight undressed 9 cell cavities slated for use in the Jefferson laboratory LCLS-II prototype cryomodule were presented at IPAC2015*. For the final string 2 more cavities AES029 and AES030 (work done at Cornell) are being processed and tested for qualification before helium vessel welding. In addition, AES034 (initial R&D treatment) is being reworked with the current production protocol after a surface reset to improve the overall performance. Modified Slow Tuner Design for Cavity 1 Inside LCLS II Cryomodules

Initial LCLS-II cryomodule testing at Fermilab showed microphonics on the furthest upstream cavity (number 1) at least factor 2 larger than on the rest of the cavities. Testing indicated that this was a difference in the mechanical support of cavity 1, not a local acoustic source. Further investigation pointed to the upstream beam-pipe of the cavity 1.
