We study the behavior of quark and diquark condensates in the framework of the extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model under the influence of a gravitational field in the static D-dimensional Einstein universe at finite temperature and quark density. The thermodynamic potential and the gap equations for the model are obtained. Quark and diquark condensates as functions of the chemical potential and temperature at different values of the curvature have been studied. Phase portraits of the system have been constructed.

How does the SU(2) x U(1) symmetry break in the early Universe

The effect of perturbative infrared singularities on the finite-temperature effective potential in the standard model with a light Higgs boson is investigated. Together with the Coleman-Weinberg term, it promotes the full gauge-symmetry breaking. The transition to the U(1) vacuum via quantum tunneling is expected to occur at some temperature approx.100 MeV. However, without knowledge of dynamical details, one cannot conclusively decide whether the chiral or the (full) gauge symmetry breaks first.

Covariant power-counting renormalizable gravity: Lorentz symmetry breaking and accelerating early-time FRW universe

We continue the study of covariant power-counting renormalizable gravity constrained by a scalar Lagrange multiplier. Lorentz-symmetry breaking is investigated in such a theory in comparison with the one in the ghost condensation model. Covariant power-counting renormalizable vector gravity which is invariant under U(1) gauge symmetry is proposed. Several forms of vector Lagrange multiplier in this theory are discussed. It is shown that the covariant scalar/vector gravity under consideration may have a power-law or de Sitter accelerating cosmological solution corresponding to an inflationary era. The simplest black hole solution is obtained and dispersion relations for graviton are presented.

Supersymmetry breaking in the early Universe induces scalar soft potentials with curvature of the order of the Hubble constant. This has a dramatic effect on the coherent production of scalar fields along flat directions. For moduli fields, this breaking generically gives a concrete realization of the moduli problem by determining the field value at early times. However, it suggests a solution if the minimum of the induced potential coincides with the true minimum. Baryogenesis via dark matter-induced symmetry breaking in the early Universe

We put forward a new proposal for generating the baryon asymmetry of the universe by making use of the dynamics of a U(1) scalar field coupled to dark matter. High dark matter densities cause the U(1) symmetry to break spontaneously so that the field acquires a large vacuum expectation value. The symmetry is restored when the density redshifts below a critical value, resulting in the coherent oscillation of the scalar field. A net B-L number can be generated either via baryon number-conserving couplings to the standard model or through small symmetry-violating operators and the subsequent decay of the scalar condensate.
