We calculate the entanglement entropy of strongly correlated low-dimensional fermions in metallic, superfluid, and antiferromagnetic insulating phases. The entanglement entropy reflects the degrees of freedom available in each phase for storing and processing information, but is found not to be a state function in the thermodynamic sense. The role of critical points, smooth crossovers, and Hilbert space restrictions in shaping the dependence of the entanglement entropy on the system parameters is illustrated for metallic, insulating, and superfluid systems. Universal disorder-induced transition in the resistivity behavior of strongly coupled metals

At low temperatures (T/sub c/<0.1theta/sub D/) a new universal transition in the resistivity behavior of strongly coupled superconductors has been demonstrated experimentally: The power-law behavior changes from T/sup n/ (n = 3--5) to T/sup 2/ as disorder increases, provided that the electron-phonon coupling lambda is sufficiently high. The physics of the effect is probably based on the breakdown of the electron-phonon momentum-conservation law. Universal correlation allows independent estimates of lambda.

Universal properties of the FQH state from the topological entanglement entropy and disorder effects

The topological entanglement entropy (TEE) is a robust measurement of the quantum many-body state with topological order. In fractional quantum Hall (FQH) state, it has a connection to the quantum dimension of the state itself and its quasihole excitations from the conformal field theory (CFT) description. We study the entanglement entropy (EE) in the Moore–Read (MR) and Read–Rezayi (RR) FQH states. The non-Abelian quasihole excitation induces an extra correction of the TEE which is related to its quantum dimension. Long-range interactions and entanglement of slow single-photon pulses

We show that very large nonlocal nonlinear interactions between pairs of colliding slow-light pulses can be realized in atomic vapors in the regime of electromagnetically induced transparency. These nonlinearities are mediated by strong, long-range dipole-dipole interactions between Rydberg states of the multilevel atoms in a ladder configuration. In contrast to previously studied schemes, this mechanism can yield a homogeneous conditional phase shift of {pi} even for weakly focused single-photon pulses, thereby allowing a deterministic realization of the photonic phase gate.
