The direct photon spectrum is computed to the highest currently available precision and compared to ATLAS data from 8 TeV collisions at the LHC. The prediction includes threshold resummation at next-to-next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic order through the program PeTeR, matched to next-to-leading fixed order with fragmentation effects using JetPhox and includes the resummation of leading-logarithmic electroweak Sudakov effects. Remarkably, improved agreement with data can be seen when each component of the calculation is added successively. This comparison demonstrates the importance of both threshold logs and electroweak Sudakov effects. Numerical values for the predictions are included.

Feasibility of searches for a Higgs boson using H{yields}W{sup +}W{sup -}{yields}l{sup +}l{sup -} + missing p{sub T} and high p{sub T} jets at the Fermilab Tevatron

The sensitivity of standard model Higgs boson searches at the Tevatron experiments with a mass 135<M{sub H}<190 GeV/c{sup 2} using the channel H{yields}W{sup +}W{sup -}{yields}l{sup +}l{sup -}pe{sub T}(l=e,{mu}) is discussed. Three new event selections involving Higgs in association with one or two high P{sub T} hadronic jets are discussed. Using leading order matrix elements and a conservative cut-based analysis a 95% confidence level exclusion on {sigma}xB(H{yields}W{sup +}W{sup -}), 1.6 times larger than that predicted by the standard model for M{sub H}=165 GeV/c{sup 2}, may be achieved with 5 fb{sup -1} of integrated luminosity. High p_T Direct Photon and pi⁰ Triggered Azimuthal Jet Correlations and Measurement of k_T for Isolated Direct Photons in p+p Collisions at s = 200 GeV

Correlations of charged hadrons of 1 < p{sub T} < 10 Gev/c with high p{sub T} direct photons and {pi}{sup 0} mesons in the range 5 < p{sub T} < 15 Gev/c are used to study jet fragmentation in the {gamma} + jet and dijet channels, respectively. The magnitude of the partonic transverse momentum, k{sub T}, is obtained by comparing to a model incorporating a Gaussian k{sub T} smearing. High p{sub T} direct photon and {pi}{sup 0} triggered azimuthal jet correlations and measurement of k{sub T} for isolated direct photons in p+p collisions at {radical}(s)=200 GeV

Correlations of charged hadrons of 1<p{sub T}<10 Gev/c with high p{sub T} direct photons and {pi}{sup 0} mesons in the range 5<p{sub T}<15 Gev/c are used to study jet fragmentation in the {gamma}+jet and dijet channels, respectively. The magnitude of the partonic transverse momentum, k{sub T}, is obtained by comparing to a model incorporating a Gaussian k{sub T} smearing. The sensitivity of the associated charged hadron spectra to the underlying fragmentation function is tested and the data are compared to calculations using recent global fit results. Centrality-dependent direct photon p{sub t} spectra in Au+Au collisions at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) energy {radical}(s{sub NN})=200 GeV

We calculate the centrality dependence of transverse momentum (p{sub t}) spectra for direct photons in Au+Au collisions at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) energy {radical}(s{sub NN})=200 GeV, based on a realistic data-constrained (3+1)-dimensional hydrodynamic description of the expanding hot and dense matter, a reasonable treatment of the propagation of partons and their energy loss in the fluid, and a systematic study of the main sources of direct photons. The resultant p{sub t} spectra agree with recent PHENIX data in a broad p{sub t} range. The competition among the different direct photon sources is investigated at various centralities.
