The critical points of strongly coupled lattice QCD at nonzero chemical potential

We study QCD at nonzero quark density, zero temperature, infinite coupling using the Glasgow algorithm. An improved complex zero analysis gives a critical point {mu}{sub c} in agreement with that of chiral symmetry restoration computed with strong coupling expansions, and monomer-dimer simulations. We observe, however, two unphysical critical points: the onset for the number density {mu}{sub 0}, and {mu}{sub s} the saturation threshold, coincident with pathological onsets observed in past quenched QCD calculations. An analysis of the probability distributions for particle number supports our physical interpretation of the critical point {mu}{sub c}, and offers a new intepretation of {mu}{sub 0},more »« less

QCD at nonzero chemical potential: Recent progress on the lattice

We summarise recent progress in simulating QCD at nonzero baryon density using complex Langevin dynamics. After a brief outline of the main idea, we discuss gauge cooling as a means to control the evolution. Subsequently we present a status report for heavy dense QCD and its phase structure, full QCD with staggered quarks, and full QCD with Wilson quarks, both directly and using the hopping parameter expansion to all orders.

Unquenched Complex Dirac Spectra at Nonzero Chemical Potential: Two-Color QCD Lattice Data versus Matrix Model

We compare analytic predictions of non-Hermitian chiral random matrix theory with the complex Dirac operator eigenvalue spectrum of two-color lattice gauge theory with dynamical fermions at nonzero chemical potential. The Dirac eigenvalues come in complex conjugate pairs, making the action of this theory real and positive for our choice of two staggered flavors. This enables us to use standard Monte Carlo simulations in testing the influence of the chemical potential and quark mass on complex eigenvalues close to the origin. Lattice QCD at non-zero isospin chemical potential

Systems of non-zero isospin chemical potential are studied from a canonical approach by computing correlation functions with the quantum numbers of N π(+)'s (C(N)(π)). In order to reduce the number of contractions required in calculating C(N)(π) for a large N in the Wick's theorem, we constructed a few new algorithms. With these new algorithms, systems with isospin charge up to 72 are investigated on three anisotropic gauge ensembles with a pion mass of 390 MeV, and with lattice spatial extents L ~ 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 fm.
