Higgs Boson Signatures of MSSM Electroweak Baryogenesis

Electroweak baryogenesis in the MSSM can account for the cosmological baryon asymmetry, but only with a very light scalar top and a SM-like Higgs boson. We investigate the effects of this light scalar top on Higgs boson production and decay. Relative to the standard model Higgs boson, we find a large enhancement of the Higgs production rate through gluon fusion and a suppression of the Higgs branching fraction into photon pairs. These modifications in the properties of the Higgs boson are large enough that they can potentially be tested at the Tevatron and the LHC.

Constraints on electroweak baryogenesis in models involving an extended Higgs sector

Consequences for electroweak baryogenesis within models featuring an extended Higgs sector are analyzed. The phenomenology of extensions of the scalar sector in the Standard Model and its significance for the electroweak phase transition are studied. Conditions for the effective potential of the two-doublet model that lead to a strong first-order phase transition necessary for generating the observed baryon-antibaryon asymmetry are determined.

Here, we study the viability of electroweak baryogenesis in a two Higgs doublet model scenario augmented by vector-like, electroweakly interacting fermions. Considering a limited, but illustrative region of the model parameter space, we obtain the observed cosmic baryon asymmetry while satisfying present constraints from the non-observation of the permanent electric dipole moment (EDM) of the electron and the combined ATLAS and CMS result for the Higgs boson diphoton decay rate.
