A calculation of the interaction potential of a heavy-light heavy-light (HLHL) system in lattice QCD is used to study the existence of tetraquark bound states. The interaction potential of the tetraquark system is calculated on the lattice with 2+1 flavours of dynamical fermions with lattice interpolating fields constructed using colorwave propagators. These propagators provide a new method for constructing all-to-all spatially smeared the interpolating fields, a technique which allows for a better overlap with the ground state wavefunction as well as reduced statistical noise. Tetraquarks, bound states composed of two quarks and two antiquarks, have been the subject of intense study but have yet to be understood from first principles. Previous studies of fully-heavy tetraquarks in nonrelativistic effective field theories of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) suggest different conclusions for their existence. We apply variational and Green's function Monte Carlo methods to compute tetraquarks' ground- and excited-state energies in potential nonrelativistic QCD. Light-front heavy-quark effective theory and heavy-meson bound states

The heavy-quark effective theory is developed on the light front. Based on this effective theory, a light-front heavy-meson bound state with definite spin and parity is constructed. Within the effective theory, the Isgur-Wise function is derived in terms of the asymptotic light-front bound state amplitudes in the limit {ital m}{sub {ital Q}}{r_arrow}{infinity}; the result is a general expression for arbitrary recoil velocities. With the asymptotic form of the BSW amplitudes, the Isgur-Wise function is given by {xi}({ital v}{center_dot}{ital v}{prime})=1/{ital v}{center_dot}{ital v}{prime}.
