Sr₂CuTeO₆ presents an opportunity for exploring low-dimensional magnetism on a square lattice of S = 1/2 Cu²⁺ ions. In this study, we employ ab initio multireference configuration interaction calculations to unravel the Cu²⁺ electronic structure and to evaluate exchange interactions in Sr₂CuTeO₆. The latter results are validated by inelastic neutron scattering using linear spin-wave theory and series-expansion corrections for quantum effects to extract true coupling parameters. Lastly, using this methodology, which is quite general, we demonstrate that Sr₂CuTeO₆ is an almost ideal realization of a nearest-neighbor Heisenberg antiferromagnet but with relatively weak coupling of 7.18(5) meV.

Determining the $r p$ -Process Flow through ${}^{56}{Ni}$ : Resonances in ${}^{57}{Cu} (p, γ) {}^{58}{Zn}$ Identified with GRETINA

An approach is presented in this paper to experimentally constrain previously unreachable (p,γ) reaction rates on nuclei far from stability in the astrophysical rp process. Energies of all critical resonances in the ⁵⁷Cu(p,γ)⁵⁸Zn reaction are deduced by populating states in ⁵⁸Zn with a (d,n) reaction in inverse kinematics at 75 MeV/u, and detecting γ-ray-recoil coincidences with the state-of-the-art γ-ray tracking array GRETINA and the S800 spectrograph at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory. A search for resonant and nonresonant pair production of Higgs bosons in the b¯bτ⁺τ^– final state is presented. The search uses 36.1 fb^–1 of pp collision data with √s = 13 TeV recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC in 2015 and 2016. Decays of the τ-lepton pairs with at least one τ lepton decaying to final states with hadrons and a neutrino are considered. No significant excess above the expected background is observed in the data.
