Fragmentation function and partonic kT at 200 GeV

The high-pT trigger associated distributions in p + p collisions at v s(bar sign)=200 GeV are analyzed. It is shown that, despite the general expectation, the associated distributions as a function of 'scaled' variables xE or pTa/pTt have almost no sensitivity to the shape of the fragmentation function. It is discussed that the slope of xE and/or PTa/pTt distributions rather reflects the final state parton spectra.

A new Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) analysis framework of fragmentation and parton distribution functions has been developed by the TTAP (Team Towards global Analysis of the Proton and partons) collaboration. The Mellin transformation technique used in the analysis framework improved the computing speed, which allows us to perform further detailed analysis.
