Anyon representation of the ground-state degeneracy of the quantum frustrated XY model

We use the extension of the Jordan-Wigner transformation to planar systems to investigate the quantum frustrated {ital XY} model for spin 1/2 on a square lattice. We find that this model is mapped into the hopping Hamiltonian for a planar spinless electron in a transverse magnetic field. When we fix the frustration parameter to be a rational number such that the electron density is proportional to the total flux threading the plaquette, the model is equivalent to a {ital Z}{sub {ital N}} gauge theory of anyons. Anyon Condensation and Continuous Topological Phase Transitions in Non-Abelian Fractional Quantum Hall States

We find a series of possible continuous quantum phase transitions between fractional quantum Hall states at the same filling fraction in two-component quantum Hall systems. These can be driven by tuning the interlayer tunneling and/or interlayer repulsion. One side of the transition is the Halperin (p,p,p-3) Abelian two-component state, while the other side is the non-Abelian Z{sub 4} parafermion (Read-Rezayi) state. We predict that the transition is a continuous transition in the 3D Ising class. The critical point is described by a Z{sub 2} gauged Ginzburg-Landau theory. The self-organization of a Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) in a transversely pumped optical cavity is a process akin to crystallization: when pumped by a laser of sufficient intensity, the coupled matter and light fields evolve, spontaneously, into a spatially modulated pattern, or crystal, whose lattice structure is dictated by the geometry of the cavity. Incompressible quantum fluids of ideal anyons in a strong magnetic field

In this paper ideal anyons with statistics {nu} in a strong magnetic field are studied by means of a similarity transformation. The ground state exhibits integer quantum Hall effect at filling factor 1/{nu} with quasiparticle excitations of charge q/{nu} and statistics {minus}1/{nu}. Certain electron FQH states can be considered as realization of this, for example, the sequence 2/5, 3/7....hierarchy of the 1/3 state. This may explain the observed quasiparticle-quasihole asymmetry in the fractional quantum Hall hierarchy.
