Upper bound on strong-coupling corrections to the second upper critical field

An upper bound for the strong-coupling correction eta/sub H//sub >//sub c//sub =/ to the second upper critical magnetic field of an Eliashberg superconductor is established as a function of Coulomb pseudopotential (..mu../sup */) and of impurity content (t/sup +/). Results are also given for many actual superconductors for which the electron-phonon spectral densities are known. These are found to always fall below our upper bound although in some cases they can fall fairly close to the maximum, which varies with ..mu../sup */ and t/sup +/.

Theory of two-photon interactions with broadband down-converted light and entangled photons

When two-photon interactions are induced by down-converted light with a bandwidth that exceeds the pump bandwidth, they can obtain a behavior that is pulselike temporally, yet spectrally narrow. At low photon fluxes this behavior reflects the time and energy entanglement between the down-converted photons. However, two-photon interactions such as two-photon absorption (TPA) and sum-frequency generation (SFG) can exhibit such a behavior even at high power levels, as long as the final state (i.e., the atomic level in TPA, or the generated light in SFG) is narrow-band enough. Uniform upper bounds (and thermodynamic limit) for the correlation functions of symmetric Coulomb-type systems

Uniform upper bounds are proven for the correlation functions in the strictly charge-neutral canonical and grand canonical ensembles for charge-symmetric two-component systems. For the grand canonical ensemble the increase of the correlation functions along the thermodynamic-limit sequence is shown as well, implying the existence of the states. The particles have bounded pair interactions of positive type. Both classical and quantum systems with Boltzmann statistics are considered. Coulomb systems with regularized interactions are included as a special case.
