We have calculated the nucleon form factors G{sub E,M}{sup (p,n)}(q{sup 2}) in the linear {sigma} model to one-meson-loop order plus (two-loop) {gamma}{pi}{pi}{pi} anomaly. The previously derived {gamma}{pi}{pi}{pi} anomaly generally reduces the nucleon radii and produces a shift of the magnetic moments of order 0.1 {mu}{sub N} or less. We present analytical results for G{sub E,M}{sup p,n}(0) which display explicitly their dependence on hadron masses and coupling constants. Analytical results for the radii are also given and the chiral singularities they contain (lnm{sub {pi}} and m{sub {pi}}{sup {minus}1}) are exposed. Isovector meson contribution in the relativistic Hartree-Fock approach for finite nuclei

The properties of finite nuclei are studied in a relativistic effective interaction approach. Density dependent coupling constants of the meson-nucleon interactions are adopted to incorporate the Dirac Brueckner-Hartree-Fock (DBHF) results in the relativistic mean field (RMF) or relativistic Hartree-Fock (RHF) approach. It is desired to remedy the deficiencies of the RMF and RHF without losing the features of the relativistic [ital G] matrix and at the same time retain the simplicity. The importance of the nucleon correlations, which are expressed by density-dependent coupling constants, is studied and the contribution of isovector mesons is discussed. Chiral symmetry amplitudes in the S-wave isoscalar and isovector channels and the {sigma}, f{sub 0}(980), a{sub 0}(980) scalar mesons

We use a nonperturbative approach which combines coupled channel Lippmann Schwinger equations with meson-meson potentials provided by the lowest order chiral Lagrangian. By means of one parameter, a cut off in the momentum of the loop integrals, which results of the order of 1 GeV, we obtain singularities in the S-wave amplitudes corresponding to the {sigma}, f{sub 0} and a{sub 0} resonances. The {pi}{pi}{yields}{pi}{pi}, {pi}{pi}{yields}KK-bar phase shifts and inelasticities in the T=0 scalar channel are well reproduced as well as the {pi}{sup 0}{eta} and KK-bar mass distributions in the T=1 channel. Thermodynamics of oxides with substitutional disorder: A microscopic model and evaluation of important energy contributions

The first-principles calculation of finite-temperature phase stability and thermodynamic properties of multicomponent oxides presents a significant challenge. The time scale on which substitutional disorder occurs prevents the use of standard simulation methods, and a correct description of entropic effects requires that excitation energies can be calculated accurately on the scale of k{sub B}T. A model is presented in which substitutional disorder is parameterized with a cluster expansion. The thermodynamics of this model can be easily obtained with lattice model statistical mechanics. Nucleon Isovector Pairing in Nuclei: Microscopic Approach, Boson Representation, and Collective Model

Nucleon pair correlations in atomic nuclei are analyzed within a nuclear microscopic model with residual isovector pairing forces. These are formulated in the boson representation of fermion operators whereby the collective mode of pair excitations can be isolated without restricting the size of the one-particle basis. This method allows one to analyze the fluctuations in the nonsuperfluid phase of nuclear matter, its phase transition to the superfluid phase, and strong pair correlations. The performance of the method is exemplified by numerical results for the nuclei in the vicinity of the doubly magic {sup 56}Ni nucleus.
