We revisit the Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfeld (BPS) monopoles spectrum of the supersymmetric CP(N-1) two-dimensional model with Z{sub N}-symmetric twisted masses m{sub l} (l=0,1,...,N-1). A related issue we address is that of the curves of marginal stability (CMS) in this theory. Previous analyses were incomplete. We close the gap by exploiting a number of consistency conditions. In particular, we amend the Dorey formula for the BPS spectrum. Our analysis is based on the exact Veneziano--Yankielowicz-type superpotential and on the strong-coupling spectrum of the theory found from the mirror representation at small masses, |m{sub l}|<<{Lambda}. We study the central extensions of the N=1 superalgebras relevant to the soliton solutions with the axial geometry--strings, wall junctions, etc. A general expression valid in any four-dimensional gauge theory is obtained. We prove that the only gauge theory admitting BPS strings at weak coupling is supersymmetric electrodynamics with the Fayet-Iliopoulos term. The problem of the ambiguity of the (1/2,1/2) central charge in the generalized Wess-Zumino models and gauge theories with matter is addressed and solved. We address a number of unanswered questions in the N=(0,2)-deformed CP(N-1) model with twisted masses. In particular, we complete the program of solving the CP(N-1) model with twisted masses in the large-N limit. In A. Gorsky, M. Shifman, and A. Yung, Phys. Rev. D 73, 065011 (2006), a nonsupersymmetric version of the model with the Z{sub N} symmetric twisted masses was analyzed in the framework of Witten's method. In M. Shifman and A. Yung, Phys. Rev. Heterotic N=(0,2) CP(N-1) model with twisted masses

We present a two-dimensional heterotic N=(0,2) CP(N-1) model with twisted masses. It is supposed to describe internal dynamics of non-Abelian strings in massive N=2 SQCD with N=1-preserving deformations. We present gauge and geometric formulations of the world-sheet theory and check its N=(0,2) supersymmetry. It turns out that the set of twisted masses in the heterotic model has N complex mass parameters, rather than N-1. In the general case, when all mass parameters are nonvanishing, N=(0,2) supersymmetry is spontaneously broken already at the classical level. BPS Z{sub N} string tensions, sine law and Casimir scaling, and integrable field theories

We consider a Yang-Mills-Higgs theory with spontaneous symmetry breaking of the gauge group G{yields}U(1){sup r}{yields}C{sub G}, with C{sub G} being the center of G. We study two vacua solutions of the theory which produce this symmetry breaking. We show that for one of these vacua, the theory in the Coulomb phase has the mass spectrum of particles and monopoles which is exactly the same as the mass spectrum of particles and solitons of two-dimensional affine Toda field theory, for suitable coupling constants.
