We introduce an effective low-energy pairing model for Fe-based superconductors with s- and d-wave interaction components and a small number of input parameters and use it to study the doping evolution of the symmetry and the structure of the superconducting gap. We argue that the model describes the entire variety of pairing states found so far in the Fe-based superconductors and allows one to understand the mechanism of the attraction in s{sup {+-}} and d{sub x{sup 2}-y{sup 2}} channels, the competition between s- and d-wave solutions, and the origin of superconductivity in heavily doped systems, when only electron or onlymore » hole pockets are present.« less
Unified description of superconducting pairing symmetry in electron-doped Fe-based-122 compounds

Here, the pairing symmetry is examined in highly electron-doped Ba (Fe_1-x Co_x As)₂ and A_y Fe₂ Se₂ (with A = K, Cs) compounds, with similar crystallographic and electronic band structures. Starting from a phenomenological two-orbital model, we consider nearest-neighbor and next-nearest-neighbor intraorbital pairing interactions on the Fe square lattice. In this model, we find a unified description of the evolution from s_±-wave pairing (2.0 < n ≲ 2.4) to d-wave pairing (2.4 ≲ n ≲ 2.5) as a function of electron filling. Nanoscale Superconducting States in the Fe-Based Filamentary Superconductor of Pr-Doped CaFe₂As₂

The low-temperature scanning tunneling microscope and spectroscopy (STM/STS) are used to visualize superconducting states in the cleaved single crystal of 9% praseodymium-doped CaFe2As2 (Pr-Ca122) with Tc ≈ 30 K. The spectroscopy shows strong spatial variations in the density of states (DOS), and the superconducting map constructed from spectroscopy discloses a localized superconducting phase, as small as a single unit cell. The comparison of the spectra taken at 4.2 K and 22 K (below vs. close to the bulk superconducting transition temperature) from the exact same area confirms the superconducting behavior. Doping evolution of the superconducting gap anisotropy was studied in single crystals of 4d-electron doped Ba(Fe_1–xRh_x)₂As₂ using tunnel diode resonator measurements of the temperature variation of the London penetration depth Δλ(T). Single crystals with doping levels representative of an underdoped regime x = 0.039 (T_c = 15.5 K), close to optimal doping x = 0.057 (T_c = 24.4 K) and overdoped x = 0.079 (T_c = 21.5 K) and x = 0.131(T_c = 4.9 K) were studied. Doping-evolution of the superconducting gap in single crystals of (Ca _1-x La _x ) ₁₀ (Pt ₃ As ₈ )(Fe ₂ As ₂ ) ₅ superconductor from London penetration depth measurements

The doping-evolution of the superconducting gap structure in iron-based superconductor (Ca^{1-xLa_x)₁₀(Pt₃As₈)(Fe₂As₂)₅(x = 0.04, 0.06, 0.09, 0.11, and 0.18) was probed by high-resolution measurements of the London penetration depth, λ(T). The samples spanned compositions from underdoped to slightly overdoped with superconducting critical temperatures, T_c, from 12.7 K (x = 0.04) through (optimal) 23.3 K (x = 0.11) to 21.9 K (x = 0.18). The low-temperature variation (up to 0.3 T_c ) of λ(T) was analysed using a power-law function, Δλ = AT_n. For compositions close to the optimal doping, (x = 0.09, 0.11, and 0.18), characterized by T_c > 20K, Δλ(T)more » shows a tendency to saturation, indicative of a full gap on the Fermi surface. Fitting over the lowest temperature range (T < 0.1 T_c) gives n = 2.6. This value is well outside the range 1 ≤ n ≤ 2 expected for the line-nodal superconductor. The exponent n decreased to n ~ 2 in the two most underdoped compositions x = 0.04 (T_c = 12.7 K) and 0.06 (T_c = 18.2 K), implying the development of a notable gap anisotropy revealed by the enhanced influence of pair-breaking scattering. This decrease is accompanied by a significant increase of the total variation of the penetration depth Δλ in a fixed temperature interval (e.g., T_min - 0.3T_c). Both the decrease of the exponent and the increase of the absolute value of Δλ in the underdoped regime are similar to the observations in other charge-doped iron-based superconductors, such as doped BaFe₂As₂ and NaFeAs, suggesting a universal behavior in iron-based superconductors.}« less
