Inclusive production of nonstrange resonances in high-energy. nu. p charged-current interactions

We have examined the inclusive production of nonstrange particle resonances in ..nu..p interactions using the Fermilab 15-ft bubble chamber. A sample of 2437 charged-current events with visible longitudinal momentum greater than 10 GeV/c was obtained. The rho/sup 0/ and ..delta../sup + +/(1232) are seen. An overall rate of 0.21 +- 0.04 rho/sup 0/ per event is found. For five-prong events, the rate is 0.44 +- 0.08 rho/sup 0/ per event. The rho/sup 0/ Z distribution falls rapidly for Z greater than 0.4. The production of ..delta../sup + +/ is seen clearly in events with an identified proton. No evidence ismore »« less

Evidence of I = 1/2 resonant states in charged-current-induced weak one-pion production

Recent data of weak charged-current one-pion production obtained in the BNL deuterium bubble chamber are compared with a model which includes resonant and nonresonant contributions coming from the ..pi..N invariant-mass region extended up to 1.6--1.7 GeV/c/sup 2/. Rather clear evidence of the I = 1/2 first resonances is seen to emerge.

Signatures for the charged Higgs boson decay of the top quark at the Fermilab Tevatron

We investigate the effect that a charged Higgs boson decay channel for the top quark has on the signature for top quark pair production at the Fermilab Tevatron. The branching ratios for the various multijet and multilepton final states arising from t{bar t} production are obtained for a wide range of values for tanthinsp{beta} and the charged Higgs boson mass. Tau-jet signatures of vectorlike quark decays to heavy charged and neutral Higgs bosons

We study 4b + 2τ and 4b + 1τ signatures of heavy neutral and charged Higgs bosons originating from cascade decays of pair-produced new quarks. Decays of vectorlike quarks through heavy Higgses can easily dominate in the two Higgs doublet model of type-II, and the studied signatures are common to many possible decay chains. We design search strategies for these final states and discuss the mass ranges of heavy Higgs bosons and new quarks that can be explored at the Large Hadron Collider as functions of branching ratios in a model independent way.
