We sift the impact of the recent Higgs precise measurements, and recent dark matter direct detection results, on the dark sector of an electroweak extension of the Standard Model that has a complex scalar as dark matter. We find that in this model the Higgs decays with a large branching ratio into dark matter particles, and charged scalars when these are kinematically available, for any coupling strength differently from the so called Higgs portal. Moreover, we compute the abundance and spin-independent WIMP-nucleon scattering cross section, which are driven by the Higgs and Z{sup '} boson processes. We decisively exclude themore »« less

Lepton flavors at the early CERN LHC experiments as the footprints of the dark matter producing mechanisms

The minimal supergravity (mSUGRA) parameter space corresponding to light sleptons well within the reach of LHC and relatively light squarks and gluinos (mass {<=}1 TeV) has three regions consistent with the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe data on dark matter relic density and direct mass bounds from LEP 2. Each region can lead to distinct leptonic signatures from squark-gluino events during the early LHC experiments (integrated luminosity {approx}10 fb{sup -1} or even smaller) due to the distinct features of the 2-body leptonic decay modes of the electroweak gauginos, produced in squark-gluino decay cascades, in each region. Halo-independent tests of dark matter direct detection signals: local DM density, LHC, and thermal freeze-out

From an assumed signal in a Dark Matter (DM) direct detection experiment a lower bound on the product of the DM-nucleon scattering cross section and the local DM density is derived, which is independent of the local DM velocity distribution. This can be combined with astrophysical determinations of the local DM density. Within a given particle physics model the bound also allows a robust comparison of a direct detection signal with limits from the LHC. Direct and indirect detection and LHC signals of bino-Higgsino dark matter

If the lightest dark matter neutralino has a sufficiently large Higgsino component, its spin-independent and spin-dependent cross sections on nucleons can be sizable enough to be detected soon in direct and indirect surveys. We outline in this paper some characteristic features expected of mixed bino-Higgsino dark matter. If the observed relic density is saturated by the bino-Higgsino dark matter, it fixes the amount of allowable bino-Higgsino mixing and provides predictions for other observables which can be tested at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).
