We derive a holographic dual description of free quantum field theory in arbitrary dimensions, by reinterpreting the exact renormalization group to obtain a higher spin gravity theory of the general type which had been proposed and studied as a dual theory. We show that the dual theory reproduces all correlation functions.

Holographic Dual of a Boundary Conformal Field Theory

We propose a holographic dual of a conformal field theory defined on a manifold with boundaries, i.e., boundary conformal field theory (BCFT). Our new holography, which may be called anti-de Sitter BCFT, successfully calculates the boundary entropy or g function in two-dimensional BCFTs and it agrees with the finite part of the holographic entanglement entropy. Moreover, we can naturally derive a holographic g theorem. We also analyze the holographic dual of an interval at finite temperature and show that there is a first order phase transition.

Holographic Duals of Argyres-Douglas Theories

We propose the first explicit holographic duals for a class of superconformal field theories of Argyres-Douglas type, which are inherently strongly coupled and provide a window onto remarkable nonperturbative phenomena (such as mutually nonlocal massless dyons and relevant operators of fractional dimension). The theories under examination are realized by a stack of M5-branes wrapped on a sphere with one irregular puncture and one regular puncture. In the dual 11d supergravity solutions, the irregular puncture is realized as an internal M5-brane source.

Mass deformations of the ABJM theory: the holographic free energy

We find a class of new supersymmetric Euclidean solutions in four-dimensional maximal gauged supergravity. The holographic dual description of these backgrounds is given by a mass-deformation of the ABJM theory with general values for the R-charges. We calculate the S³ free energy for the supergravity backgrounds and find agreement with the supersymmetric localization calculation of the free energy in the large N limit.

M theory as a holographic field theory

We suggest that M theory could be nonperturbatively equivalent to a local quantum field theory. More precisely, we present a {open_quotes}renormalizable{close_quotes} gauge theory in eleven dimensions, and show that it exhibits various properties expected of quantum M theory, most notably the holographic principle of {close_quote}t Hooft and Susskind. The theory also satisfies Mach{close_quote}s principle: A macroscopically large space-time (and the inertia of low-energy excitations) is generated by a large number of {open_quotes}partons{close_quotes} in the microscopic theory.
