Electronic band structure imaging of three layer twisted graphene on single crystal Cu(111)

Few layer graphene (FLG) is grown on single crystal Cu(111) by Chemical Vapor Deposition, and the electronic valence band structure is imaged by Angle-Resolved Photo-Emission Spectroscopy. It is found that graphene essentially grows polycrystalline. Three nearly ideal Dirac cones are observed along the Cu Γ{sup ¯}K{sup ¯} direction in k-space, attributed to the presence of ∼4° twisted three layer graphene with negligible interlayer coupling. The number of layers and the stacking order are compatible with Raman data analysis demonstrating the complementarity of the two techniques for a more accurate characterization of FLG.

Liquid-phase exfoliation of chemical vapor deposition-grown single layer graphene and its application in solution-processed transparent electrodes for flexible organic light-emitting devices

Efficient and low-cost methods for obtaining high performance flexible transparent electrodes based on chemical vapor deposition (CVD)-grown graphene are highly desirable. In this work, the graphene grown on copper foil was exfoliated into micron-size sheets through controllable ultrasonication. We developed a clean technique by blending the exfoliated single layer graphene sheets with conducting polymer to form graphene-based composite solution, which can be spin-coated on flexible substrate, forming flexible transparent conducting film with high conductivity (∼8 Ω/□), high transmittance (∼81% at 550 nm), and excellent mechanical robustness. In addition, CVD-grown-graphene-based polymer light emitting diodes with excellent bendable performances were demonstrated.

Calculated Properties of Fully Hydrogenated Single Layers of BN, BC2N, and Graphene: Graphane and Its BN-Containing Analogues

Carbon is an attractive material for hydrogen adsorption, due to its light weight, variety of structures, and ability to both physisorb and chemisorb hydrogen. Recently, fully hydrogenated graphene layers ( graphane ) have been predicted to exist [J.O. Sofo et al., Phys. Rev. B 75, 15340 (2007)], and experimentally observed [D.C. Elias et al., Science 323, 610 (2009)]. In this work, we examine analogues of graphane, in particular BNH2 and BC2NH4. Unlike graphene, these materials have a band gap without hydrogenation.
