We have performed a systematic study of lithium hydride (LiH) in a density range from half to twice solid for temperatures from 0.5 to 3.0 eV using quantum molecular dynamics (QMD) methods and have tested density and pressure mixing rules for obtaining equations of state and optical properties such as frequency-dependent absorption coefficients and Rosseland mean opacities. The QMD simulations for the full LiH fluid served as a benchmark against which to assess the rules. Ab initio simulations of the dynamic ion structure factor of warm dense lithium

Here, we present molecular dynamics simulations based on finite-temperature density functional theory that determine self-consistently the dynamic ion structure factor and the electronic form factor in lithium. Our comprehensive data set allows for the calculation of the dispersion relation for collective excitations, the calculation of the sound velocity, and the determination of the ion feature from the total electronic form factor and the ion structure factor. Accurate quantum dynamics calculations using symmetrized Gaussians on a doubly dense Von Neumann lattice

In a series of earlier articles [B. Poirier, J. Theor. Comput. Chem. 2, 65 (2003); B. Poirier and A. Salam, J. Chem. Phys. 121, 1690 (2004); and ibid. 121, 1704 (2004)], a new method was introduced for performing exact quantum dynamics calculations. The method uses a 'weylet' basis set (orthogonalized Weyl-Heisenberg wavelets) combined with phase space truncation, to defeat the exponential scaling of CPU effort with system dimensionality-the first method ever able to achieve this long-standing goal. We derive the equations governing the nonlinear dynamics of one-, two-, and three-dimensional lattices in a close to continuum condition (i.e., a dense lattice). The described method correctly captures all terms to a given order in discreteness and, unlike previous approaches, leads to well-behaved partial-differential equations for these problems. In general, the dispersion born out of discreteness counteracts the steepening of waves caused by the nonlinearity and leads to the formation of permanent nonlinear structures.

Lattice dynamics and vibrational spectra of lithium manganese oxides: A computer simulation and spectroscopic study

The lattice vibrational modes of spinel-structured lithium manganese oxides have been calculated using atomistic modeling methods. The simulations allow the Raman and infrared spectra of lithiated, fully delithiated, and partially delithiated phases to be assigned for the first time. Calculations for the spinels LiMn{sub 2}O{sub 4}, {lambda}-MnO{sub 2}, and Li{sub 0.5}Mn{sub 2}O{sub 4} are compared with experimental Raman data measured for thin films of the oxides coated on a platinum electrode.
