Features and non-Gaussianity from inflationary particle production

Interactions between the inflaton and any additional fields can lead to isolated bursts of particle production during inflation (for example from parametric resonance or a phase transition). Inflationary particle production leaves localized features in the spectrum and bispectrum of the observable cosmological fluctuations, via the Infra-Red (IR) cascading mechanism. We focus on a simple prototype interaction g{sup 2}({phi}-{phi}{sub 0}){sup 2{chi}2} between the inflaton, {phi}, and isoinflaton, {chi}; extending previous work on this model in two directions. Consistency relations for sharp inflationary non-Gaussian features

If cosmic inflation suffered tiny time-dependent deviations from the slow-roll regime, these would induce the existence of small scale-dependent features imprinted in the primordial spectra, with their shapes and sizes revealing information about the physics that produced them. Multi-field inflation with random potentials: field dimension, feature scale and non-Gaussianity

We explore the super-horizon evolution of the two-point and three-point correlation functions of the primordial density perturbation in randomly-generated multi-field potentials. We use the Transport method to evolve perturbations and give full evolutionary histories for observables. Identifying the separate universe assumption as being analogous to a geometrical description of light rays, we give an expression for the width of the bundle, thereby allowing us to monitor evolution towards the adiabatic limit, as well as providing a useful means of understanding the behaviour in f{sub NL}. Non-Gaussian perturbations from inflationary dynamics

The dynamics of the scalar field driving inflation can be described as a Brownian motion under the influence of a classical force arising from its self-interactions. Fluctuations of the inflaton on large scales give rise to density perturbations. If the inflaton potential is not too flat, as in models of nonexponential inflation, these perturbations can be non-Gaussian. In a power-law inflation with an exponential potential non-Gaussian scale-invariant adiabatic perturbations are rapidly produced.
