Comparison of {sup 120}Sn({sup 6}He,{sup 6}He){sup 120}Sn and {sup 120}Sn({alpha},{alpha}){sup 120}Sn elastic scattering and signatures of the {sup 6}He neutron halo in the optical potential

Cross sections of {sup 120}Sn({alpha},{alpha}){sup 120}Sn elastic scattering have been extracted from the {alpha}-particle-beam contamination of a recent {sup 120}Sn({sup 6}He,{sup 6}He){sup 120}Sn experiment. Both reactions are analyzed using systematic double-folding potentials in the real part and smoothly varying Woods-Saxon potentials in the imaginary part. The potential extracted from the {sup 120}Sn({sup 6}He,{sup 6}He){sup 120}Sn data may be used as the basis for the construction of a simple global {sup 6}He optical potential. The elastic scattering {sup 4}He({sup 6}He, {sup 6}He){sup 4}He has been investigated at center-of-mass energies of 11.6 and 15.9 MeV. Differential cross sections are determined using a post-accelerated {sup 6}He (T{sub 1/2}=0.807 s) beam in the center-of-mass angular range between 50 and 140 degrees. The comparison of the measured data with calculations using a double folding potential shows evidence for the 2n-transfer process in the {sup 4}He({sup 6}He, {sup 6}He){sup 4}He elastic scattering.

Microscopic description of {sup 4}He + {sup 4}He elastic scattering over the energy range E=100-280 MeV

Analysis of the differential cross sections for {sup 4}He +{sup 4}He elastic scattering is performed within the framework of the double-folding optical model. Two appropriate effective nucleon-nucleon interactions are employed to generate the {alpha}-{alpha} folded real potentials. The obtained potentials in conjunction with phenomenological Woods-Saxon (WS) derivative imaginary potentials are used to investigate six sets of the elastic scattering data through the energy range 100-280 MeV. Successful reproduction of the data is obtained by both considered interactions. In addition, real phenomenological potentials expressed in a squared WS form are successfully used to reproduce these data.
