Magnetic field dependence of the reversible mixed-state properties of superconducting MgB{sub 2} single crystals and the influence of artificial defects

The reversible mixed-state properties of superconducting MgB{sub 2} are summarized and discussed in terms of new results and evaluations, which take the two band character of the material explicitly into account. The magnetic field dependence of the reversible magnetization is analyzed within Ginzburg Landau theory which, however, fits only either at high or at low fields. The resulting parameters (e.g., characteristic fields, lengths, and anisotropy) are quite different in these two regimes. Morphology-controlled synthesis and novel microwave electromagnetic properties of hollow urchin-like chain Fe-doped MnO{sub 2} under 10 T high magnetic field

Fe-doped MnO{sub 2} with a hollow sea urchin-like ball chain shape was first synthesized under a high magnetic field of 10 T. The formation mechanism was investigated and discussed in detail. The synthesized samples were characterized by XRD, SEM, TEM, EMPA, and vector network analysis. By doping MnO{sub 2} with Fe, the relative complex permittivity of MnO{sub 2} and its corresponding loss tangent clearly decreases, but its relative complex permeability and its corresponding loss tangent markedly increases. Hyperfine structure and magnetic properties of Zn doped Co{sub 2}Z hexaferrite investigated by high-field Mössbauer spectroscopy

The polycrystalline samples of Ba{sub 3}Co{sub 2−x}Zn{sub x}Fe{sub 24}O{sub 41} (x = 0.0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0) were synthesized by the standard solid-state-reaction method. Based on the XRD patterns analyzed by Rietveld refinement, the structure was determined to be single-phased hexagonal with space group of P6{sub 3}/mmc. With increasing Zn ion concentration, the unit cell volume (V{sub u}) of samples was increased, as the sites of Fe{sup 3+} ions changed from tetrahedral to octahedral sites. Local structural distortion and electrical transport properties of Bi(Ni_1/2Ti_1/2)O₃ perovskite under high pressure

Perovskite-structure materials generally exhibit local structural distortions that are distinct from long-range, average crystal structure. The characterization of such distortion is critical to understanding the structural and physical properties of materials. In this work, we combined Pair Distribution Function (PDF) technique with Raman spectroscopy and electrical resistivity measurement to study Bi(Ni_1/2Ti_1/2)O₃ perovskite under high pressure. PDF analysis reveals strong local structural distortion at ambient conditions. As pressure increases, the local structure distortions are substantially suppressed and eventually vanish around 4 GPa, leading to concurrent changes in the electronic band structure and anomalies in the electrical resistivity.
