Description/Abstract:
For the purposes of `this concept`, it has been assumed that the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission will be the responsible agency for conduct of the nuclear explosives operations involved in excavation of a sea-level isthmian canal. Various AEC Contractors with a special competence in particular areas will be involved under the overall management of the AEC Project Manager. The nuclear explosives operations program will provide all technical services directly related to transportation, handling, emplacement and firing of the nuclear devices to include furnishing and personnel and equipment required for arming, emplacement, stemming, and firing.
