Description/Abstract:
A WATER-HAMMER MODEL IS DEVELOPED FOR A COMPLEX PIPING SYSTEM THAT EXTENDS FROM FOUR PUMPING STATIONS TO TWO RESERVOIRS AND SEVERAL NUCLEAR REACTORS. USING THIS MODEL THE BERGERON GRAPHICAL ANALYSIS PROCEDURE IS APPLIED TO DET THE PRESSURE AND FLOW TRANSIENTS INCIDENT TO THW SUDDEN LOSS OF PUMPING, SUDDEN PUMP STARTUP, AND OTHER WATER-HAMMER CONDITIONS. RESULTS ARE COMPARED WITH EXPERIMENTAL WATER-HAMMER TESTS.
