Description/Abstract:
INHALATION OF PU PARTICLES CAUSED SPONTANEOUS DEATHS AT 55 TO 1446 DAYS POST-EXPOSURE IN BEAGLE DOGS HAVING A LUNG BURDEN OF FROM 0.6 TO 48 UC PU-239 02. 4 DOGS SURVIVING MORE THAN 1150 DAYS, AND 1 ANIMAL THAT DIED 150 DAYS AFTER EXPOSURE TO HIGH LEVELS OF PU AEROSOLS, SHOWED BRONCHIOLO-ALVEOLAR TUMORS. THOUGH MOST OF THESE NEOPLASMS WERE LOCALLY INVASIVE, AND SOME APPREARED TO BE OF MULTICENTRIC ORIGIN, NO EVIDENCE OF REGIONAL OR DISTAL METASTASIS WAS SEEN. THE PROGRESSION SEQUENCE OF TUMOR FORMATION APPREARED TO BE DESMOPLASIA, METAPLASIA, AND FINALLY NEOPLASIA.
