Description/Abstract:
A STUDY OF HIGH-TEMPERATURE RADIATION DAMAGE IN LAMPBLACK-BASED GRAPHITES HEAT TREATED TO 3000 C. PROPERTIES MEASURED INCLUDE LENGTH CHANGE, SONIC MODULUS, THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY, COEFFICIENT OF THERMAL EXPANSION, ELECTRICAL RESISTIVITY, AND CRYSTALLITE PARAMETERS. RESULTS WERE CONSISTENT WITH SUGGETIONS THAT HIGH-TEMPERATURE, RADIATION-INDUCED CONTRACTION IN GRAPHITE IS ASSOCIATED WITH STRESSES GENERATED DURING COOLING FROM GRAPHITIZATION TEMPERATURES.
