Description/Abstract:
A GENERALIZED REACTOR FUEL BURN-UP CODE (MELEAGER) HAS BEEN EXTENDED TO TREAT SELF-SHIELDED BURNABLE POISONS. A STUDY OF MECHANICAL CONTROL MINIMIZATION WAS CARRIED OUT, USING B-10 AS A POISON IN BOTH SELF-SHIELDED & UNSHIELDED FORMS. COMBINATIONS OF 2 DIFFERENT SELF-SHIELDED BURNABLE POISONS YIELDED THE MOST SATISFACTORY REACTIVITY RESPONSE. USE OF UNSHIELDED EU, BOTH ALONE & WITH SELF-SHIELDED B-10, GAVE MEDIOCRE RESULTS.
