Description/Abstract:
AN ALKALINE PERMANGANATE-AMMONIUM CITRATE PROCEDURE, WITH A PRETREATMENT FOR DISSOLUTION OF U OXIDES WHEN REQUIRED, WAS EVALUATED FOR DECONTAMINATION OF A SYSTEM CONTAMINATED WITH RADIOACTIVE ISOTOPES FROM CORROSION FILMS AND FUEL ELEMENT CLADDING FAILURES. THE PROCEDURES DECONTAMINATION EFFICIENCY AND CORROSIVITY TO CARBON AND STAINLESS STEEL, ZIRCALOY-2, AND OTHER CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS WERE DETERMINED.
