Description/Abstract:
BLOOD VALUES FOR PBI (PROTEIN-BOUND IODINE) CREATININE, P, UREA N, CHOLESTEROL, CA, LEUKOCYTES, HEMOGLOBIN, AND HEMATOCRIT IN SURGICALLY THYROIDECTOMIZED SUFFOLK SHEEP WERE COMPARED WITH CONTROL ANIMALS' LEVELS FOR THE PERIOD OF ONE YEAR. SERUM PBI VALUES WERE FOUND TO DECREASE AND CREATININE TO INCREASE IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWNG THYROIDECTOMY. LYMPHOPENIA DEVELOPED DURING THE SECOND MONTH, AND INORGANIC P WAS UP DURING THE LAST PART OF THE PERIOD. NO SIGNIFICANT CHANGES OCCURRED IN CA, HEMOGLOBIN, HEMATRCRIT OR NEUTROPHIL VALUES
