Description/Abstract:
CERTAIN PROCEDURES AND TECHNIQUES HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED AT HANFORD TO CONTROL THE SPREAD OF SMALL AMOUNTS OF RADIOACTIVE CONTAMINATION AND TO MINIMIZE ITS ADVERSE EFFECTS. THEY CONSIST OF (1) CONTAINMENT OF THE CONTAMINATION WITHIN A RESTRICTED AND CONTROLLED ZONE. (2) DECONTAMINATION THROUGH REMOVAL OF THE CONTAMINATION BY USE OF CHEMICAL SOLVENTS, MECHANICAL ACTION, OR A COMBINATION OF BOTH. (3) FIXING AND/OR COVERING AND SHIELDING THE RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS
