THE NATURE OF CATION SUBSTITUTION DURING REPLACEMENT OF CALCITE BY PHOSPHORITE ALLOWS THE STATISTICAL TREATMENT OF DATA CONCERNING SUCH SUBSTITUTIONS. LOG-PROBABILITY PLOTS OF DATA YIELD STRAIGHT LINES THAT ALLOW EASY AND ACCURATE EXTRAPOLATIONS. DATA ARE PRESENTED TO SHOW THE EFFECT OF PO-3 CONCENTRATION, TEMPERATURE, FLOW RATE, AND NA+ CONCENTRATION ON THE PRIMARY INCLUSION OF THE RADIOISOTOPES OF PM+3, SR+2, UVI, AND PUIV.
