DISCUSSES DIFFERENTIAL AND INTEGRAL EXPERIMENTS; DESCRIBES IN DETAIL 2 INTEGRAL TECHNIQUES - IN WHICH A SPECTRAL INDEX IS INFERRED FROM MEASUREMENTS OF THE RATIO OF THE THERMAL-FISSION ACTIVITY OF PU-239 TO THAT OF U-235 & FROM THE RATIO OF ACTIVITIES INDUCED IN LU-176 & LU-175 BY NEUTRON CAPTURE; GIVES RESULTS OF EXPERIMENTAL COMPARISONS OF THESE METHODS IN (1) A REACTOR SPECTRUM WHERE THERMAL NEUTRONS DO NOT DEVIATE MUCH FROM THE MAXWELLIAN SHAPE & (2) IN ASSEMBLIES WHERE THE MAXELLIAN SHAPE IS DISTORTED.
