Description/Abstract:
THE IONIC SPECIES OF THE TETRA-AND HEXAVALENT ACTINIDES THAT ARE EXTRACTED FROM HNO3 BY TRI-N-OCTYLAMINE-XYLENE SOLNS HAVE BEEN IDENTIFIED AS M(NO3)6= AND MO2(NO)3, RESPECTIVELY. THE SPECTRUM OF EACH METAL INTO A SOLN IS SHOWN TO BE NEARLY IDENTICAL TO THAT OF AN ORGANIC SOLN OF THE CORRESPONDING TETRAETHYLAMMONIUM SALT; AND, IN THE CASE OF THE TETRAVALENT IONS, NEARLY IDENTICAL TO A CONCENTRATED HN03 SOLN OF THE METAL.
