IN CONVENTIONAL EDDY CURRENT TESTING A SINGLE TEST FREQUENCY IS USED. THE USE OF A BROADBAND OR MULTIFREQUENCY SIGNAL OFFERS THE POSSIBILITY OF GIVING MORE INFORMATION THAN IS OBTAINED FROM A SINGLE FREQUENCY SIGNAL. THE INTERPRETATION OF BROADBAND OUTPUT SIGNAL IN TERMS OF SPECIFIC TEST SAMPLE VARIATIONS IS INVESTIGATED. THE PROBLEM IS CONSIDERED FROM THE VIEWPOINT OF INFORMATION THEORY
