SPECIAL IRRADIATION KAPL-120 - AN ELECTRIC ANALOGUE COMPUTER WAS USED TO DETERMINE MAXIMUM GRAPHITE TEMPERATURES. TEMPERATURES WERE DETERMINED FOR TWO CONDITIONS (1) THE DEPRESSED FLUX WHICH HAS BEEN MEASURED IN THE LOOP DURING OPERATION AND (2) A MAXIMUM CASE WHEREIN THE FLUX WAS ASSUMED EQUAL TO THAT IN ADJACENT PROCESS TUBES. RESPECTIVE SP POWER LEVELS OF APPROXIMATELY 175 KW/FT AND 100KW/FT WOULD BE REQUIRED TO CAUSE A GRAPHITE TEMPERATURE OF 550C.
