Description/Abstract:
CRITICAL EXPERIMENTS HAVE BEEN EMPLOYED AS A BASIS FOR DEVELOPMENT OF 2 METHODS OF CALCULATING THE EFFECT OF GROUPS OF CONTROLS ON A REACTOR HAVING REGIONS OF DIFFERING LATTICE REACTIVITY. EITHER METHOD MAY BE USED TO PREDICT CONTROL SYSTEM CAPACITY IF CERTAIN EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS ARE AVAILABLE. THE EFFECTIVE SLAB MODEL PRODUCED RESULTS AS ACCURATE AS THE MORE COMPLICATED 3 DIMENSIONAL VARIATIONAL APPROACH.
