TYPES 304-L AND 347 STAINLESS STEEL WERE EXPOSED TO SOLUTIONS OF 10 TO 20% OXALIC ACID AT 80 C AND AT ATMOSPHERIC BOILING POINT FOR A TOTAL OF 240 HOURS (FIVE 48 HOUR PERIODS). CORRISION RATES ARE GIVEN AS INCHES PENETRATION PER MONTH. OXALIC ACID IS COMPARED WITH HNO3 AS A CLEANING AGENT FOR PROCESS EQUIPMENT.
