IN THE TEMPERATURE RANGE 175-180C AND WITH UNADJUSTED PH, NO DIFFERENCE WAS NOTED BETWEEN AL SLUG JACKET CORROSION RATES IN A STANDARD 72 S AL CLAD PROCESS TUBE AND IN AN ZR TUBE. REDUCTION OF PH FROM ABOUT 6.8 TO 5.2 RESULTED IN A NEARLY TEN-FOLD REDUCTION IN CORROSION RATES, FROM 0.44 TO 0.05 MILS/MONTH AT 185C. NO ADVERSE EFFECTS ON THE STAINLESS STEEL PORTION OF THE LOOP WERE NOTED.
