ALTERNATE EXAMINATION OF PHYSICAL PROPERTIES AND RE-EXPOSURE OF FUEL ELEMENTS IS DISCUSSED WITH RESPECT THE DETERMINATION OF WHICH, IF ANY, PHYSICAL PROPERTIES MEASURABLE WITH BASIN EQUIPMENT CAN BE EMPIRICALLY RELATED TO SLUG RUPTURE TENDENCY. A METHOD OF INTERPRETING RESULTS IS PRESENTED TO SERVE AS A BASIS FOR DETERMINATION OF RUPTURE CHARACTERISTICS OF VARIOUS BATCHES OF PRODUCTION SLUGS BY EXAMINATION AFTER LOW EXPOSURE.
