Description/Abstract:
REPORTS RESULTS OF AN ATTEMPT TO DETERMINE THE TEMPERATURE COEFF OF THE IN-PILE GRAPHITE BURNOUT RATE BY EXPOSING GRAPHITE SAMPLES TO THE PILE ATMOSPHERE AT EVEATED TEMPERATURES. NO TEMPERATURE DEPENDENCE OF THE BURNOUT RATE WAS ESTABLISHED. BURNOUT RATES SEEM TO BE MORE A FUNCTION OF GAS COMPOSITION AND FLOW RATE THAN THEY DO OF THE TEMPERATURE. MAX BURNOUT RATE OBSERVED WAS ABOUT 6-1/2%/KED AT AN EXPOSURE TEMPERATURE OF 535C.
