WATER PUTITY REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SEVERAL COMPONENTS OF A HIGH TEMPERATURE REACTOR HAVE BEEN STUDIED. FOR THE PRIMARY LOOP, THESE REQUIRMENTS DEPEND UPON WATER ACTIVITY LEVELS, CORROSION OF FLOW SURFACES, FOULING OF HEAT TRANSFER SURFACES AND WATER DECOMPOSITION. ECONOMIC GAINS COULD BE ACHIEVED BY RELAXATION OF THE PRESENT 1 MEG-OHN REQUIREMENT TO PERMIT THE USE OF 2 BED DEMINERALIZERS, IN PLACE OF THE MORE COMPLEX MIXED BED TYPE. FURURE STUDIES TO DETERMINE OPTIMUM WATER QUALITY ARE INDICATED. THE REQUIREMENTS OF SERVICE WATER ARE DISCUSSED, AND THE INTER-TIES OF THE VARIOUS INTERMEDIATE TREATMENT PLANTS ARE REVIEWED
