A SMALL SOURCE MODEL IS APPLIED TO THE CASE OF A PILE WITH PLATE FUEL ELEMENTS AND ROD FUEL ELEMENTS. THE RESULTS ARE EQUATIONS WHICH GIVE THE BUCKLING IN TERMS OF THE RESULTS ARE EQUATIONS WHICH GIVE THE BUCKLING IN TERMS OF THE DISTANCES BETWEEN FUEL ELEMENTS AND IN TERMS OF FUEL ELEMENTS CONSTANTS. A BRIEF OUTLINE OF THE METHOD FOR MEASURING THESE FUEL ELEMENT CONSTANTS IS GIVEN.
