A SYSTEM IS DESCRIBED FOR AUTOMATICALLY SAMPLING AND MONITORING THE Y RADIATION OF SOLUTIONS IN A PILOT PLANT FOR PROCESSING OF SPENT NUCLEAR FUELS. GROSS ACTIVITY LEVELS CAN BE MEASURED IN THE RANGE 6 UC/L TO 3 C/L AND Y ENERGY ANALYSES CAN BE MADE IN THE RANGE 10 UC/L TO 100 MC/L, TO IDENTIFY Y EMITTERS. THE SYSTEM PROVIDES FOR AUTOMATIC REPETITIVE MEASUREMENT OF Y ACTIVITY OF 11 PROCESS STREAMS AT 30 MIN INTERVALS AND IS READILY ADAPTED TO CONTINUOUS MEASUREMENT OF EACH STREAM ACTIVITY.
