RESULTS OF TRACER STUDIES ON THE UPTAKE OF 1 BY PLANTS FROM SOIL AND NUTRIENT SOLUTION ARE REPORTED AS A FUNTION OF PH, PLANT SPECIES AND I CONCENTRATION. I IS READILY ABSORBED FROM BOTH SOIL AND NUTRIENT SOLUTION. THE ABSORPTION IS APPROX 4 TIMES GREATER AT PH 4 THAN PH 7. THE 4 PLANT SPECIES TESTED DIFFERED IN THEIR ABILITY TO CONCENTRATE THE I, BUT ALL WERE WITHIN A 10 FOLD VARIATION. THE ADDITION OF A CARRIER INCREASED THE PERCENTAGE OF I ABSORBED INTO THE PLANT
