Description/Abstract:
FOUR SAE 1020 STEEL SAMPLES WERE EXAMINED FOR CORROSION EFFECTS AFTER EXPOSURE TO REDOX WASTE. ONE SAMPLE WAS STRESSED BY BENDING PRIOR TO EXPOSURE. WEIGHT LOSSES RANGING FROM 5.2 TO 8.3 MG/GM AND SURFACE PITS 0.8 TO 2.8 MILS DEEP WERE OBSERVED. THE STRESSED SAMPLE REVEALED NO EVIDENCE OF STRESS CORROSION
