Description/Abstract:
THE MINUTES CONTAIN INFORMATION ON THE EIGHTH MEETING OF THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS ARMED FORCES RADIOBIOLOGY RESEARCH INSTITUTE AT THE NATIONAL NAVAL MEDICAL CENTER, ON 16 DECEMBER 1963. INCLUDED IS AN AGENDA AND A LIST OF ATTENDEES. THE MEETING WAS PRECEDED BY A TOUR OF THE NEW FACILITIES AT AFRRI, IN WHICH THE MEMBERS WERE SHOWN VIA CLOSED CIRCUIT TV ANIMAL EXPOSURE TO HIGH RADIATION DOSES. THEN COLONEL HOLMES GAVE A STATUS REPORT ON DASA MATTERS PERTINENT TO AFRRI. THIS WAS FOLLOWD LIEUTENTANT COMMANDER SYKES WHO GAVE A RESUME ON MILITARY PERSONNEL ISSUES INCLUDING STABLIZED TOURS, REPLACEMENT OF PRESENT STAFF AND ACQUISITION OF OFFICERS FOR LINAC TRAINING. COLONEL BRENNAN THEN SPOKE ON FEASIBILITY STUDIES ON A FALLOUT SIMULATOR. THE BOARD THEN VIEWED A MOVIE OF MONKEYS RESPONCES TO HIGH LEVELS OF RADIATION. THIS WAS FOLLOWED BY A BRIEFING OF WEAPONS DEVELOPMENT AND ITS RELATIONSHIP TO AFRRI, GIVEN BY COLONEL DONALD G. WILLIAMS. CAPTAIN COHEN THEN GAVE A BRIEFING ON ACTIVATION ANALYSIS THAT ENDED THE MEETING.
