MEMORANDUM FROM JAMES L. LIVERMAN, DIRECTOR , DIVISION OF BIOMEDICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESEARCH, TO GORDON F. IHMLE, ASSISTANT DIRECTOR FOR INSPECTIONS, A FACT-FINDING MISSION RELATIVE TO MEDICAL FOLLOW-UP EXAMINATIONS OF IRRADIATED PRISONERS HAS BEEN AUTHORIZED BY MR. LIVERMAN, AND IS TO BE CARRIED OUT BY DR. SIDNEY MARKS, BER, IN COOPERATION WITH STAFF OF THE OFFICE OF GENERAL COUNSEL. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE MISSION IS TO SEEK INFORMATION RELEVANT TO ESTABLISHING OR ENLARGING A PROGRAM OF MEDICAL FOLLOW-UP OF PRISONERS IN THE OREGON AND WASHINGTON CORRECTIONS SYSTEMS WHO WERE EXPOSED TO RADIATION DURING STUDIES CARRIED OUT UNDER CONTRACT TO THE AEC.
