Description/Abstract:
PLUTONIUM INJECTION STUDIES - A RECOMMENDATION LIST BY N. MARKS. THIS INCLUDED: AN IMMEDIATE DISCLOSURE TO PATIENTS TAKING INTO ACCOUNT INFORMATION OBTAINED IN INQUIRY, TO CONTINUE STUDIES ON SURVIVORS IF PROPER CONSENT OBTAINED FROM PATIENTS AND STATEMENT OF MEASURES TAKEN TO ASSURE COMPLIANCE WITH DHEW GUIDELINES IS RECEIVED FROM CENTER FOR HUMAN RADIOBIOLOGY, SUSPEND THE EXHUMATION PROGRAM UNTIL OUTSIDE REVIEW IS COMPLETEED OR IMPACT OF PRESENTATION OF PAPERS AT MEETING IN JULY IS ASSESSED. THE ENTIRE PROGRAM SHOULD BE REVIEWED BY AN OUTSIDE COMMITTEE. THE OUTSIDE COMMITTEE OR INTERNAL COMMITTEE TO RECOMMEND A COURSE OF ACTION RELATIVE TO DISCLOSURE TO ESTATES OF DECEASED TAKING INTO CONSIDERATION APPROACHES TO SURVIVING RELATIVES TAKEN BY CHR PERSONNEL. SURVIVORS TO BE OFFERED REGULAR MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE AT AEC OR DOD EXPENSE DEPENDING ON AGENCY RESPONSIBILITY. DOD SHOULD BE REPORTED TO ON THE OUTCOME OF INQUIRY AND ACTIONS TAKEN BY AEC.
